Preface Having
been obsessed for too long with the paradoxes of the ethnic, the ensuing
rationalizing and whining have camouflaged our inner alienation and
agitation. There is a voice crying out from within. There is a voice that
has already disappeared from a distant yesterday. We can no longer wait in
silence, listening to the sharp waves of screams that come from above.
Narcissism and internal imbalance have caused us to reflect on life only
from the margin: a song, a portrait, an old happy story, or even a
beautiful lie. Elites are the guardian of the world and, as such, need to
stand in the forefront of modern civilization. To sell traditions is an
offense to civilization and history. In the world today where culture is
increasingly shared globally, we need to care more about the contribution
we make to world civilization. In this collection, I sincerely share with
you personal experiences and reflections on life, with the hope to reach
mutual understanding. In doing so, we may begin to construct a new
Xinjiang landscape.
